Driven from a 700 Bar hydraulic source, the hydraulic setting tool for insulator of contact wire section, VHIS, enables a 25000 volts section type insulator to be fitted and removed ; it is ideally used with the GHA700 battery-operated hydraulic group. |

The mechanical link between insulator and contact wire is made by means of claws fitted to a shaft, locating in a fork of the insulator. |

When setting the section insulator, the contact wire is fitted with hook-on claws at a defined distance apart. | |

The VHIS is fastened to the contact wire by means of pins. The VHIS makes it possible to cancel the mechanical tension in the wire by drawing the claws together. The contact wire may then be cut where the tension has been released. |

Next, the isolator is fitted in place. The VHIS is equipped with a flow limiter to guarantee easiness and safety of the operation (correct positioning of the claw shafts in the insulator fork). |

When replacing an insulator, it may be removed and refitted in a few minutes, thanks to the easiness with which the VHIS is installed and used. |
